Shop Truck gets a Steering Wheel
After all of the updates on the shop truck, the driving experience has been vastly improved. When we got in the truck and drove it around for a while, we noticed that with the Afco Coilover suspension and the rest of the front end all being so tight, the steering wheel felt enormous. Everyone that has driven it has noticed this as well, so we decided it was time for a new steering wheel for the truck. We started by buying a Momo steering wheel hub adapter to attach the new wheel to the truck.
Next it was time to find a wheel that would fit well in the truck, while maintaining the overall feel of the exterior and also the interior. What we came up with was the Sparco L575 in leather. The wheel has red and white accents to match the wrap on the truck. While installing the wheel we found out that getting the horn to work was a process. Using the stock horn wire, the only grounds for the wheel are the bolts themselves and it was not always getting a good ground to work. Once finding a solution to the horn dilemma, the truck started to go back together. After the wheel was installed, the truck felt and responded much less like a school bus and more like a well tuned sports car. This small change has helped make the truck even more enjoyable to drive than previously, and it will continue to improve.
