Zain's Ty gets Wrapped
It has been a while since we have updated our blog on Zain’s Ty. Since last year more work has been done, this time more cosmetics to clean up the look of the truck. We started by taking off all of the cladding on the truck to see what we were working with to get ready for the wrap. What was found is a clean truck for having 230k miles and being driven in upstate NY. The biggest imperfections were the usual rear window rust, which had gotten pretty bad, and a poorly installed antennae on the roof that was used previously for a cell phone back in the 90’s. We proceeded to drive the truck to the body shop to get all of the dents and rust fixed before the vinyl wrapping to make sure that the truck would look as good as it possibly could. While at the body shop we fixed all the tabs on the cladding and reinforced them to make sure they would hold up to daily driving.
The next step of the process was finding a set of wheels to go with the new color of the wrap. We had recently become a dealer for Fifteen52 wheels and decided to go with them for this project. Fifteen52 makes very clean cast wheels, which look great on all cars from imports to german luxury to all domestic cars as well. The decision was made to go with the Tarmac wheel since it is such a timeless design and would look great on a Typhoon. We ended up with a staggered set up, 18x8.5 up front with 18x9.5 in the rear, and decided to powdercoat them illusion cherry to make the wrap pop. If you would like to see more on Fifteen52 and their wheel choices make sure to check out their website www.fifteen52.com or our wheel section of the store http://www.sportmachines.net/store/wheels/fifteen52.html .
Then came the big part of the project, wrapping the truck and cladding. The color of choice was similar to Audi’s own Nardo Grey. This color has not been done a SyTy making it even more unique. With the help of some good friends, the truck was wrapped in no time. With the truck looking so nice, we had to put on all new belt moldings, quarter glass moldings, glass run channels and paint all of the trim the correct black to clean up the rest of the truck. All of these items are available on our webstore and fit better than OE!
With all of that said and done, please enjoy these pictures and the many more to come of Zain’s Ty all finished up. There is more to come this year as always for Zain’s Ty so stay tuned to our blog for updates and other shop news!
